12 Principles of Agile (Part 2)

7. PROJECTS BUILDING

“Build projects around motivated individuals. Give them the environment and support they need, and trust them to get the job done.” All of this means that micromanagement is a no in the Agile framework. You have collected your teammates, assigned them with their suitable work, provide them with every possible facility. Now, it is their turn. If you find yourself a micromanager, do not worry, everything takes time.

8. SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

The pace of the project is mentioned in this principle. As is said: “Agile processes promote sustainable development. The sponsors, developers, and users should be able to maintain a constant pace indefinitely.” Don’t place your team with loads of overtime, this will have a negative impact on the product. Further learning about sustainable development also helps to earn PDUs.

9. CONTINUOUS ATTENTION

“Continuous attention to technical excellence and good design enhances agility.” The two-part of this principle are important since you don’t want to fix errors in the later phase of the project, the best way is to fix them as soon as possible. Also, the use of Scrum and other methods play crucial roles in this principle, further explanation will be discussed carefully in the 60PDU bundle.

10. K.I.S (KEEP IT SIMPLE)

Keeping things as simple as possible in order to reduce the amount of time to go from understanding to completing, cutting out all the necessities. “Simplicity–the art of maximizing the amount of work not done–is essential.”

11. REFLECTIONS

Jumping from one task to the next not always benefit the team and the project. Your team doesn’t act as parrots by following anything blindly. They do adapt and adjust to the project, hence, press pause and check the whole project.  “At regular intervals, the team reflects on how to become more effective, then tunes and adjusts its behavior accordingly.”

12. TEAM ORGANIZATION

“The best architectures, requirements, and designs emerge from self-organizing teams.” In a team using Agile framework, the manager doesn’t have to tell each member exactly what their task is and what they have to do, the manager’s interference only happened when unexpected problems occurred and the situation got out of hands.
