2. Connect them to the vision
After displaying your vision to the whole team, as a leader, you should place each team member in that vision. Let them see that they’re a part of this project as well as their important role in the project. To do so, you need to respect each of your team members’ abilities, show how each task fits in with them, and how others work is dependent on them. People are keen on being recognized, and that’s why they contribute more than ever.
Besides the benefit of getting people involved in the project, this component keeps them from detrimental reliance. While some members themselves enjoy working on the project with most effort, others may take it for granted and ignore their importance, which can be a burden for everyone. Thus, before starting a project, start a thought revolution among your members first.
3. Support your team
Last but not least, one of the most critical duties of a leader is to encourage and support team members. After distributing tasks for each person, you should not let them work on their own but be by their side along the way. The common methods of supporting are asking questions and giving compliments.
With questions, you can start by asking, “How can I support you?”. During the project, it’s inevitable for your team to task without being stuck or coming across something they have never trained, even though you’ve done well in 2 steps above. It will be very subtle of you to offer to help them with the resources they need.
Giving compliments is the greatest and easiest tonic for your team members. This is when words can strongly encourage and boost their productivity. Be flexible to the compliments. In case a member needs improvement, you should see their strengths and potentials, then giving compliments along with some constructive comments.
