3. START EARNING PDUS

Earning PDUs sounds simple, but be careful, since not all PDUs are the same. In the renewal system, there are two types of PDUs:

3.1 Education - At least 35 PDUs for this category should be earned.
Those Education PDUs could be gained through attending a PMI® conference, joining classes, participating in different events and workshops, not to mention self-directed learning such as reading books. Do note down that PMI® regulates Education PDUs with its Talent Triangle and part of your job is also allocated at least 8 PDUs for each side of the triangle.

3.2 Giving Back to the Profession - A maximum of 25 PDUs for this category is needed.
To earn PDUs in this category, taking part in activities that let you use and share your project skills is a great way. You can do volunteering activities as well as mentoring, coaching, writing articles, or authoring other media for project management professionals. You can also record your daily professional work/employment as a project manager within the certification period.

It is worth mentioning that the easiest to earn PDUs is to earn those that are under the Education category by attending online courses. Since almost 100% of the PMP® certified professionals are full-time employees, they are sparing from their leisure time to both complete the CCRS cycle and renew PMP® certification. Once you consider reading materials or informal learning sources, you must spend a huge amount of time looking for different materials and meetings to complete your 60 PDUs.

4. CELEBRATE AND REPEAT

After finish earning 60 PDUs to renew your certificate, now you can continue to use the words "PMP®" after your name on your business card. Bear in mind that identical learning modules, reading materials, and activities that you have already claimed in a prior cycle will not be considered valid PDUs for the next PMP® renewal process.
