Plan Your Development To The PMI Talent Triangle® (Part 1): Technical Project Management

The PMI Talent Triangle® focuses on the combination of skills that are valued most in the field of project management, including technical, leadership and strategic and business management. This framework helps you identify the required competence for your ongoing professional development.

After becoming a certified PMP®, you must earn 60 PDUs during a period of 3 years to maintain the certification. Out of these 60 PDUs, PMI® asks for a minimum of 8 in each of the three categories, Technical Project Management, Strategic and Business Management, and Leadership. TECHNICAL PROJECT MANAGEMENT

This contains “knowledge, skills and behaviors related to specific domains of project, program and portfolio management” or “the technical aspects of performing your job/role” (PMI®, 2015). The lack of technical knowledge for a project may jeopardize the outcomes of that project by causing misunderstandings in project activities and uncertainties in finding solutions.
