What Do I Need To Prove My PDUs For PMP® Certification Renewal?

As a certified PMP®, you are provided with an online “Continuing Certification Requirements System” (CCRS) to record your PDUs. You need to record your PDUs manually with activities held by other parties while your PDUs will be automatically recorded if you participate in a real-time webinar by PMI®.

After you have submitted the PDU request, it may take some time for PMI® to review and approve the PDUs. Note that PMI® can change (usually reduce) the number of PDUs for a particular activity. Moreover, you may be required to submit supporting documents within 5 days to evaluate your claim. Like the contact hours, PDU audits are random-based. In case you are selected for an audit process to verify all of your claimed PDUs, you should keep the documentation a minimum of 18 months after the 3-year cycle.

These documentations can be one or more of the following:
• Letter of attendance or attendance certificate
• Registration confirmation letter
• Written notes (handwritten or electronic) when attending seminars, webinars, self-study, or discussion
• Authored books/presentation materials/record of webinars or podcast
• Blog posts
• Transcript or grade report of academic courses

Once you have collected enough PDUs in your PMP® certification renewal, PMI® will send you an email asking you to complete the form and pay for credential renewal, which must be completed in 90 days after your credential end date to keep your PMP® status. The PMP® renewal fee is US$60 for PMI® members and US$150 for non-members. After the process is done, the new PMP® certificate will be sent to you within 6 to 8 weeks.
